Rivian spinoff Also to start delivering e-bikes after months of delays

Rivian Spinoff Finally Set to Deliver E-Bikes After Supply Chain Delays

After months of frustrating delays, Rivian’s micromobility spinoff, Also, has announced it will finally begin delivering its first e-bikes to customers next week. This comes as a relief to early adopters who have been waiting since the vehicle was revealed in late 2025.

The TM-B Launch Edition

The company confirmed to TechCrunch that the Launch Edition of its TM-B e-bike, priced at $4,500, has started shipping from its manufacturer to its U.S. warehouse. Also expects to complete all deliveries of these initial bikes between now and September.

The TM-B represents the first public product from Also, which began as a secret skunkworks project inside Rivian back in 2022. The project even involved design help from Jony Ive’s firm, LoveFrom, highlighting the premium positioning of the vehicle.

Root of the Delays

Originally targeting a “spring” 2026 delivery, Also was forced to push the timeline to July due to “supply chain headaches.” In a statement posted on a support page in June, the company elaborated on the challenges:

“A rapid, industry-wide spike in demand for raw materials and electronic components has impacted key parts required for the TM-B. This has temporarily delayed our planned manufacturing ramp-up and pushed our first delivery dates past our original spring window.”

The company declined to specify exactly which components were affected but assured customers that their teams were “working around the clock to minimize these constraints without cutting a single corner on safety or quality.”

Customer Frustration

Despite the good news of imminent deliveries, the delays have left some early reservation holders frustrated. A thread on the r/ALSOmicromobility subreddit captured the sentiment, with one user posting:

“I’m really frustrated by the lack of communication and the actual miscommunication/lies from Also regarding shipment timelines. Why do they keep making these promises about shipping timelines just to blow right past them without any communication or actual updates?”

Some customers didn’t wait, with one user noting they had canceled their reservation.

Beyond the TM-B

Also sees itself as more than just an e-bike company, referring to itself as a “vehicle” company. Its broader ambitions include:

  • Four-wheel pedal-assist cargo vehicles for Amazon
  • An autonomous delivery vehicle for DoorDash

However, for now, the focus remains on successfully delivering the TM-B and navigating the customer service challenges that come with shipping physical products.

Final Takeaway

The start of deliveries marks a critical milestone for Also as it transitions from a promising startup to a company delivering real products. While the supply chain issues are a cautionary tale for hardware startups, the imminent arrival of the TM-B is a positive sign that the company is overcoming its initial hurdles.
